The quarries of Penteli were the main source of marble not only to build the Parthenon and other monuments of the Acropolis but also in the modern ages the marble of Penteli has been used for the construction of the Athens Academy, the National Library, the re-coating of "Stoa of Attalos" and the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), in which took place the first Olympic Games of modern era, in 1896. Moreover, there are many other newer applications in Greece (e.g. Athens Concert Hall) and abroad (eg. Grand Main Temple, Pavillion of Perfect Harmony, Japan, House of Worship, Bajai Religion India etc.).
